Our mission: 4-H provides young people with intentional, high quality learning experiences that promote positive interactions with adults and peers, sustained and active participation across time, and opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the world around them.
Positive Youth Development: 4-H is a volunteer based program where adults work with youth to teach them mastery in a project (such as how to take a good photograph), but it is more than that. We teach life skills such as responsibility, record keeping, giving to others, teamwork, and so much more. In 2020, we have been teaching classes and workshops via zoom and some clubs have also been meeting this way. We are looking a few adult volunteers to help lead hands-on workshops via zoom, as well as a few adult volunteers to help with the Young Entrepreneur Program, teaching youth to create a project and sell it at the Sunday Market. Our program serves two age groups: youth 5 to 8 years of age known as Cloverbuds and our traditional club members are ages 9-19. The Cloverbud program does not focus on one project, but is intended give these young members many learning opportunities to encourage opening their mind to new learning. 4-H leaders are asked to have 2-deep leadership when leading a group, and training is available to help you prepare of your role. We would also like to offer more science education opportunities such as Natural Science and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) programming.
Donations used for: We are thankful to those who donate to the 4-H program. The bulk of the money raised goes back to the youth in the form of scholarships for camps and retreats, awards for recognition, supplies for workshops and overnight. We offer scholarships to leaders for leader trainings, and we have a meeting space which we help maintain. We work hard to use the money raised to help keep the programs and events offered to the youth at low-cost so we can more our program more affordable to all. Most of our donations are through cash; however, through the Oregon 4-H Foundation, we can also accept gifts of assets or estates.

Our mission: Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific Is a nonprofit, all volunteer, organization whose philanthropic programs promote the well-being and self-esteem of children and teens throughout Clatsop County. Our Operation School Bell program works with the schools Elementary through High school to provide new clothing, shoes and coats twice yearly, Spring and Fall. Serving over 700 students in 2018-2019. The duffel bag program serves children entering the Foster care system. Cinderella’s Closet offers prom style dresses to area High School girls who would like to attend the dance, shoes and various accessories are often provided as well. Our SASS program offers monetary assistance to individual students in Middle and High school for needed athletic fund, science fund, choir, robotics, and more fees that are required for participation.
Volunteer opportunities: Volunteers are needed at our fundraisers The Home and Chef tour in the Fall and the Golf Ball drop in the Spring. We need volunteers to shop for clothing for the children and help keep the warehouse organized. There are several areas that need assistance from Volunteers. Won’t you consider joining us today?

The Astoria Parks, Recreation and Community Foundation (APRCF) wants everyone in Astoria to have access to recreation they love. Historically APRCF funded scholarships for aquatic center use, swimming lessons and youth sports. Because of the pandemic, 2020 focus has been on enhancing local trails (check out the newly graveled area on Cathedral Trail!) and scholarships for outdoor youth sports, like girls and boys flag football.
Run on the River is APRCF’s signature event, virtual for the first time in 2020 and as successful as ever raising close to $25,000. Participants posted pictures and their 5k, 10k, or 1/2 marathon time and were mailed an event t-shirt, hand-blown glass medal and vouchers to dine and/or drink at the event’s title sponsor, Buoy Beer. Other APRCF fundraisers include a November Fort George Benefit Night, Magnanimous Mug and online donations. Event sponsors, volunteers, participants and donors are valued greatly by the all-volunteer APRCF board.

Our mission: The Astoria Senior Center (ASC) is a small gem in downtown Astoria, Oregon. The facility is meant to be an activities center, but our services extend past recreation. We have a dedicated staff of volunteers and an Executive Director who make the best of their facilities, using it to make a difference in people’s lives. For example, we offer lifetime learning, important social interaction, and a comfortable, quiet facility. Also, we partner with the Columbia Senior Diners to provide delicious lunches. Thanks to our commitment, the seniors in the area have a clean and friendly environment to spend their time in and build relationships.
Service area: Astoria and surrounding area to include communities as distant as Rainer east and south to Cannon Beach
Volunteer opportunities: Volunteers serve as hosts, bus drivers, nurse and elected board members.
Donations used for: Maintaining the beautiful building, providing recreational trips for seniors, and last but not least assisting seniors in times of emergencies such as loss of utility services or potential loss of housing.

Our mission: Clatsop Animal Assistance (CAA) is a 501(c) 3 all-volunteer organization dedicated to helping the Clatsop County Animal Shelter’s homeless pets. We support these animals by providing funds to pay for veterinary care, spay/neuter fees, medicines, cat litter, grooming, specialty-diet foods and other supplies not covered by the shelter budget. We promote the shelter animals by providing advertising and promotional materials and by sponsoring adoption events. CAA helps turn hardship and suffering into happy endings, sending a message of compassion and caring for animals out into the community.

Volunteer opportunities: CAA is always looking for new volunteers, both to work hands-on with the shelter animals and with our adoption and fundraising efforts. Volunteers walk/bathe dogs, socialize with cats, introduce dogs and cats to potential adopters, transport animals to and from veterinary offices, and help with general administrative duties.

Our mission: The mission of the Clatsop CASA Program, Inc. is to provide trained volunteers to speak for the best interest of abused and neglected children in Clatsop County’s court and child welfare systems. Clatsop CASA promotes and supports quality volunteer representation for children, and assists CASA volunteers as they advocate for children to achieve permanency in safe, nurturing homes.

Volunteer opportunities: A Court Appointed Special Advocate is a volunteer who advocates for children in foster care. Each volunteer is dedicated to focusing on one child at a time to help them achieve a safe and permanent home as soon as possible. The volunteer investigates all relevant details of the history and current circumstances of the family. CASA’s actively participate in each phase of a child’s case to in order to determine and support the best obtainable outcome.

Our mission: Wigglin Home Boxer Rescue is a non-profit, all-volunteer group of Boxer owners and lovers covering WA, OR and parts of ID and MT. WHBR knows the great need in our community for re-homing Boxers found in unfortunate situations. These dogs come from all walks of life- neglected, homeless, owner surrendered, owner illness/death and military families unable to keep their beloved dogs due to their service to our country.
We provide this needed service through donors who believe in our mission, as well as fund-raising events. We work diligently to control the Boxer population through mandatory spaying/neutering of our rescued Boxers. Additionally, we provide education on the Boxer personality and care, over-population in shelters and the many dangers of backyard breeding. Adoptive applicants are carefully screened to assure each Boxer is placed with an appropriate forever family, thus coming full circle and completing our goal.

Our mission: Promoting compassion, empathy, and respect for all life through wildlife rehabilitation, ecological teachings, and wildlife conservation.
We are the only wildlife hospital on the Central and North Oregon coast, and serve wildlife in need from Newport, Oregon to north of the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington.
