Long Beach hosting festival, workshop

LONG BEACH — On Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Long Beach is hosting a free Festival and Event Workshop at Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort. “Do you put on a parade, specific style of festival, an event at a lodging property or activities center? Then this is the workshop for you,” Ragan Myers, tourism and events coordinator of the city of Long Beach said. “This event is designed for festival and event organizers who want to know more about local events and festivals, and those who want to put on a festival or event but don’t know how.” It is open to all Pacific County event organizers, including those just getting started and organizers of long-running events that need something fresh.

Presenters include:

• Scott Ingalls: A transplant from Montana, for the last 28 years he has owned an advertising and promotions firm that provides marketing, media management, and sponsor acquisition services to a variety of festivals, fairs, and events. He has owned or produced over 150 trade shows, expositions and vendor areas for fairs and festivals. Ingalls has also consulted and spoken on these topics to organizations throughout the western U.S. and Canada. His company produces several events each year, including an agricultural exposition in Oregon, a wine festival, and the Marion County Fair.

• Jill Ingalls: Provides advertising and promotional services, manages nonprofit associations and works with festivals and events on media management and sponsorships. Ingalls shares her nonprofit association management, marketing, tourism and hospitality industry experience to help build an association and works to build an event or improve upon the success of a project. She enjoys working with festivals to increase their sponsorship activity, improve their marketing and grow their organization. The opportunity to speak to students about volunteer management, event planning, organizational development, sponsorship, and creative marketing is one of her favorite things. Her specialties are economic revitalization (downtown redevelopment), organizational development, strategic planning, event production and sponsorship development.

• Carole Lail: A member of the board of directors and director of operations for the Tacoma Events Commission. Lail is an Force Veteran, patient advocate at Madigan Army Medical Center, and a business owner.
