BOTHELL, Wash. (AP) _ Alder BioPharmaceuticals Inc. (ALDR) on Monday reported a loss of $60.9 million in its third quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Bothell, Washington-based company said it had a loss of 91 cents.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $1.13 per share.

Alder BioPharmaceuticals shares have climbed 24 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $14.25, a climb of 30 percent in the last 12 months.
