Jan. 20, 1931 — Feb. 11, 2017

Delmar leaves his wife of 59 years, Dolores; one son, David, and his wife, Kim, of Redmond, Oregon; two daughters, Denise Duffy and her husband, Ed, of Bend, Oregon and Diane Beckwith of Burnside, Oregon; six grandchildren, Jodi Bissonette and her husband, Justin, Emily, Danny and Bradley Beckwith and Andrew and Cody Layton; one great-granddaughter, Adalyn Bissonette; and many close friends.

Del was born in Jamestown, Kansas, on Jan. 20, 1931. After graduating from high school in Randall, Kansas, Del served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 aboard the USS Philippine Sea during the Korean War.

After returning home from the service, Del met Dolores in Hollywood, California, and they were married June 8, 1958. Del worked as a carpenter, and the two of them started a family in La Puente, California, and had three wonderful children, Denise, Diane and David.

In 1977, the family moved to Burnside, Oregon, where Del also worked as a carpenter until he retired in 1993.

Del not only had pride in his family, he also had a deep passion for gardening. Del enjoyed canning all the vegetables that he harvested every year, and generously shared them with all of his family and friends.

While serving in the Navy, Del made many lifetime friends. Accompanied by Dolores, Del enjoyed traveling across the country for the many Navy Buddy reunions.

A celebration of life will be held May 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the family home.
