High wind watches issued

Two high wind watches have been issued for today in parts of Clatsop County.
The National Weather Service said winds along the Oregon Coast — including Astoria and Cannon Beach — could reach 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 65 mph this morning through the afternoon. The strongest winds will blow from noon to about 4 or 5 p.m., mainly south of Manzanita.
Western Oregon communities such as Jewell will see similar winds this afternoon through the evening, mainly in the higher terrain of coastal mountains.
Tree damage resulting from the winds could lead to power outages, and driving conditions may be hazardous.
