Fishing restricted on Big Creek

KNAPPA — State fisheries managers have extended the closure of salmon fishing on Big Creek east of Astoria through October.

The closure gives the Big Creek Hatchery more time to collect the needed tule Chinook and coho salmon brood stock.

The closure applies to all species and is effective from the fishing deadline at Big Creek Hatchery downstream approximately 3 miles to the railroad trestle at the mouth. No angling from the trestle is allowed.
