John Leon Zimmerman, 41, of Astoria, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, in Longview, Wash.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at 4 p.m. at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary, 576 12th St., in Astoria. Family and friends are invited to attend a reception immediately following the services at the Wet Dog Café and Brewery, 144 11th St., Astoria, Ore. Private cremation rites have been held.

John Leon Zimmerman was born Aug. 15, 1974, in Astoria, to Rita and Geryn Zimmerman Fahrney. He was raised and educated here. Following his education, John went to work as a commercial fisherman. He loved being on the ocean.
On July 15, John married the love of his life, Heather, at Cannon Beach.
Among his personal interests, John enjoyed being in the great outdoors. He loved riding dirt bikes and spending time with his family. John was free-spirited and loving. He made friends easily and was a joy to his family.
Survivors include his wife Heather, two daughters Aaliyah and Iris, his parents Rita and Geryn Zimmerman Fahrney, a sister Sarah Robertson and husband Jason, grandparents Herald and Andrea Zimmerman, uncles Rick, Ron and Rockie Zimmerman and wife Jessica, and Aunt Ruth McEntyre, husband Joe.
There were many special people in his life, including Randy and Scott Hollaway, Dale Chamberlain and Dave and Marie Simmons, and KC Hampton.
The family suggests that remembrances may be donations made at the service and at the reception to assist with the service expenses.
