NEHALEM — The North Coast Blue Water Task Force, a campaign of the Surfrider Foundation, is seeking long-term volunteers to form a team to collect and process marine samples from four beaches on the North Coast: Seaside Cove, Indian Beach, Cannon Beach and Short Sands.

The water will be tested for bacteria and reported on the Blue Water Task Force website two to four times a month.

Two trainings in June introduce interested citizens to the process; one is Tuesday, the other is June 27. Meet at the beach end of Gower Street in Cannon Beach at 10 a.m. either day to learn how to take a sample, and then carpool to the Nehalem Bay State Park lab to learn how to process the sample. All supplies are included. The trainings are identical, so attendance at one is all that is needed.

To only attend the lab process part of the training, be at the lab at 11:30 a.m.
