SEASIDE — The investors running the Seaside Oceanfront Inn closed on the Beachside Inn in February.

Sadie and Andy Mercer, Bill and Robin Montero, Dean and Patricia Hansen took over the inn at 300 Fifth Ave. in mid-February. The purchase price was $780,000.

It hasn’t been in full operation since summer 2014, what Andy Mercer describes as “sleeping.” It’s open for guests now.

Mercer and his wife run the Seaside Oceanfront Inn and will operate the Beachside as well.

The 12-unit motel had been fully renovated over the past 18 months, with new wiring, beds and fireplaces, so it was turnkey, Mercer said.

“The previous owners did a really nice job of it,” he added.

Employees from Seaside Oceanfront Inn will be taking care of the facility for now, but it will eventually have a staff of one or two, he said.

The timing of the purchase worked out well. Operations at Seaside Oceanfront Inn and Maggie’s have been going great, Mercer said. The group purchased the Seaside Oceanfront Inn and the attached restaurant, Maggie’s On The Prom, in 2013, and they’re pleased with the growth.

They had some capital to invest and decided they like the hotel side of things.

“Seaside’s been great,” Mercer said. “We’ve had tremendous tourist traffic.”
