Young Life North Coast holds golf tournament

GEARHART — Young Life North Coast has announced the fifth annual Fore! Kids Golf Tournament, which is being held Oct. 11, once again at Gearhart Golf Links.
The day will include a four golfer best ball scramble with a shotgun start. All participants will automatically be included in longest drive and closest to the pin competitions, as well as a few other fun “Young Life” holes. Mulligans will be available for purchase to anyone hoping to help their score a bit. The day will conclude with a brief awards lunch for all of the participants.

Eastern Orthodox Mission holds services
HAMMOND — The Holy Nativity Eastern Orthodox Mission is holding services Sunday at St. Francis de Sales Mission, 867 Fifth St. in Hammond. Matins begin at 9 a.m., with Divine Liturgy beginning at 10 a.m.
The Rev. Kevin Lien, assistant pastor of the Church of the Annunciation in Milwaukie and rector of Holy Nativity Mission, will celebrate the Divine Liturgy. Confessions will be heard during Matins from 9 to 10 a.m. or by appointment.
All Eastern Orthodox are welcome to participate. Those interested in attending an Eastern Orthodox Divine Liturgy are welcome, as well.

Learn what Bible says about finances
Grace Community Baptist Church, 1195 Irving Ave., presents a nine-week class, Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU), starting at 6 p.m. Monday and ending Nov. 24. This personal finance class is designed to empower people to manage money better and eliminate debt, and teaches what the Bible says about finances, including budgeting, investing, financial security, the blessings of giving, and more.

Feast Day of St. Michael and All Angels Sunday
The Rev. Lance Peeler is celebrating the Feast Day of St. Michael and All Angels at both the 8 and 10 a.m. services Sunday at Grace Episcopal Church, 1545 Franklin Ave. An “Art on the Wall” reception for The Drawing Group of Astoria’s new exhibit is being held in the Parish Hall at 11 a.m. The exhibit will hang until Nov. 4, and can be viewed on Sundays and weekday mornings.
The Community Dinner is served at 4 p.m. Sunday. Come at 3 p.m. to help prepare the free to the community dinner, or at 4 p.m. to share the meal and the clean up. This is Hunger Awareness Sunday at Grace; can openers, canned goods and financial donations are appreciated.

Universalists hold Church Workday
The Pacific Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is having a Church Workday, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Congregational Church, 820 Alameda Ave., to do yard work or inside cleanup, depending on the weather.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at the same location. Peggy Coreson is presenting an interactive program on the origins of religion. Nancy Cook is the lay leader, Erin and Diego Glenn are providing refreshments, Veja Lahti is the greeter, and Anne Gant is the Sunday School helper.
