HAMMOND Those interested in promoting the expansion of the arts in the local area are invited to a kickoff party for a new arts-focused local nonprofit charity Monday at 583 Russell Drive in Hammond.
Hammond residents Ryan Accetta and Mikael Wagner have formed a new nonprofit, CREATED, which stands for Constructing Revolutionary Experiences in the Arts Through Education and Development. The charity works to promote artistic outlets for all ages from kindergarten through adults. It will start with a focus on supplying young artists with resources, such as instruments, art supples, lessons and more, and move to become a foundation focused on mentorship and training.
The kickoff event provides guests an outline of CREATEDs plans as well as an informal atmosphere of music and food. Doors open at 6 p.m. and music begins at 7 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $20, but all are welcome. Proceeds from the event will benefit Clatsop County schools.
The event features a crawfish and shrimp boil as well as appetizers by local businesses, such as Drina Daisy, Meadow Harvest and Skamokawa Farmstead Creamery. Astoria Brewing Co. and North Coast Distilling will provide drinks for the event.
Local reggae break-off group Irie Sons (with members from Ma Barley) will open the music portion of the night. Seattle-based singer Olivia de la Cruz will headline with her soul-infused Americana music.
