In One Ear: Hotel Hell does Longview

Well, its been a little more than a year since Gordon Ramsay, pictured, was hunkered down in Longview, Wash., for a week trying to salvage the floundering Monticello Hotel for his Hotel Hell TV series. According to The Daily News (TDN) of Longview (http://tinyurl.com/montiramsey2), there is finally an air date: 9 p.m. Monday on FOX (KPTV 12).

The makeover did not exactly go swimmingly. The restaurants streamlined new menu was a flop with the regulars, and, even though some rooms were given facelifts, business still was on a downward slide.

Whether it will be mentioned on the show or not remains to be seen, but this year, hotel owner Phillip Lovingfoss wound up closing the lounge, restaurant and banquet hall to save money. Only the hotel, motel and office rentals are still open, and hed be willing to sell to the right buyer.

Aside from the less-than-happy real-life ending, and Ramsays famous stream of expletives, filming the show did have its moments, according to a TDN story written at the time (http://tinyurl.com/montiramsey).

In a soap-opera-esque moment, Lovingfoss went into such a tizzy during the makeover he was stopped for driving while intoxicated, right in front of his own hotel, near the film crew trailers, and wound up spending a night in jail.

The Ear suspects he will probably be in hiding Monday evening.
