May 25
12:36 a.m. Les Shirley Park: camping within city limits. Subjects contacted for unlawful lodging, advised of ordinance and moved on.
12:49 a.m. Second Street sewer ponds: camping within city limits. Subject contacted for overnight camping. Because of alcohol consumption, they were advised to stay in place and move in the morning.
1 a.m. U.S. Highway 101 at Second Street: DUII. Subject arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants, provided a breath sample with a blood-alcohol content of 0.09 percent. Subject was cited and released.
2:14 a.m. Elk Creek Road: camping within city limits.
6:37 p.m. Ocean shore at Mos: parking complaint. Vehicle blocking emergency access to ramp at beach at Warren Way. On arrival, the vehicle blacked out. Officer made contact. Persons were at Mos eating. Warning issued.
May 26
8:54 a.m. Chapman Point: assistance provided to another agency. Male slipped coming down Chapman Point trail. Approximately one-third of the way up to view point. Claimed to have hurt his back and foot. Cannon Beach Fire Department conducted low-angle rescue. Transported by Medix to Providence Seaside Hospital.
2:18 p.m. Second Street restrooms: suspicious circumstances. Report of blood in the restroom. Officer took photos and janitorial staff responded for clean-up.
2:45 p.m. Les Shirley Park: property found. Key turned in as found property.
11:17 p.m. On beach: assistance provided to Seaside Police Department with domestic on beach. Subjects were separated for the night.
May 27
12:13 a.m. Les Shirley Park: camping within city limits. Officer initiated contact with a vehicle found occupied. Occupants were advised of the city ordinance regarding overnight camping and warned. Officer assisted the occupants in locating a place to stay for the evening.
12:31 a.m. Second Street restrooms: camping within city limits. Officer initiated contact with a vehicle found occupied. Occupants were advised of the city ordinance regarding overnight camping and warned. Officer assisted the occupants in locating a place to stay for the evening.
12:35 a.m. Elk Terrace: camping within city limits. Subject warned over overnight camping.
1:12 a.m. Elk Creek Road and Elk Lane Drive: camping within city limits. Officer initiated contact with a vehicle found occupied. Occupant was advised of the city ordinance regarding overnight camping and warned. Officer assisted the occupant in locating a place to stay for the evening.
10:17 p.m. 400 block of Fir Street: unlawful entry. Officer dispatched to unlawful entry into a motor vehicle with stolen property totaling a theft II.
May 28
2:40 p.m. 3400 block of South Hemlock Street: unauthorized entry. Report of a motor vehicle break-in.
2:56 p.m. Beach at Stephanie Inn: assistance provided to another agency with a medical call.
5:14 p.m. 3400 block of South Hemlock Street: dog/animal complaints. Officer responded to the Tolovana Inn for a 911 report of a dog attack without injury. Officer arrived and met with the parties involved. Parties already separated prior to arrival. Officer advised both parties to remain separated and not to escalate the situation. Dog did not appear to be aggressive. Officer determined that case to not be an attack and advised the situation was civil in nature. Officer warned subjects for misuse of 911, advised to be more observant of surroundings and maintain a firmer grasp of the dogs leash.
5:23 p.m. U.S. Bank and Hemlock Street: assistance provided to another agency. Officer responded to area for a report of a male subject who had fallen. Officer assisted Cannon Beach Emergency Rescue and Medix with an older male who had fallen and could not remember what happened. Injury was visible to left temple and forehead. Male subject was transported to Providence Seaside Hospital.
10:21 p.m. Second Street restroom parking: camping within city limits. Officer initiated contact with a vehicle found occupied. Occupant was advised of the city ordinance regarding overnight camping and warned. Officer assisted the occupant in locating a place to stay for the evening.
May 29
4:08 p.m. 300 block of Elk Creek Road: suspicious circumstances.
May 30
8:44 a.m. 200 block of West Tanana Avenue: assistance provided to another agency with a medical call.
3:18 p.m. North Entrance: assistance rendered. Report of road-struck mother duck with ducklings. Officer gathered them up and delivered them to a rep from the Wildlife Center.
9:21 p.m. 600 block of North Larch Street: call on a disturbance.
9:33 p.m. 200 block of East Jackson: call on a disturbance. Caller requesting officer ask his neighbor to turn down the music. Officer arrived and it was silent.
May 31
2:01 a.m. 1000 block of South Hemlock Street: unsecure premise. While on patrol, officer observed the door to a storage shed was open. Inside, officer found numerous surf boards as well as other items of value. Officer secured the door and will have day shift confirm with owner that nothing is missing. Day shift advised that owner stated nothing had been taken.
9:52 a.m. Dawes Avenue and beach: assistance provided to another agency.
2:20 p.m. Spruce and Ecola State Park: assistance rendered. Officer found an unattended vehicle with doors open, possibly due to remote activation. Officer secured the doors, left a note and cleared.
2:38 p.m. Hemlock and Washington streets: call on a disturbance. Caller reported a fight. Officers responded. All were warned sternly to desist.
8:11 p.m. 300 block of Elk Creek Road: other all. Report of children throwing rocks at windows of apartment. Found children in the area, and one admitted to throwing rock and hitting residence by accidence. No damage done. Officer had child apologize to residents.
9:49 p.m. 1400 block of South Hemlock Street: fireworks offense. Received report of loud party and possible firework on beach. Officer spoke with responsible for group and he advised he would address the complaint with the group.
June 1
12:28 a.m. 3300 block of South Hemlock Street: assistance provided to Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue with possible alcohol poisoning. Upon arrival, officers observed a male who had consumed too much alcohol and vomited on the bathroom floor but was not believed by Medix to be suffering from alcohol poisoning. Patient refused transport to Providence Seaside Hospital.
1:09 a.m. Second Street parking lot: camping within city limits. Subject warned for overnight camping.
1:14 a.m. U.S. Highway 101 at North Sunset Boulevard: driving under the influence of intoxicants. Vehicle was stopped for failing to maintain lane. The female driver was later arrested for DUII.
1:56 a.m. First and Spruce streets: camping within city limits. Two subjects warned for overnight camping.
2:41 a.m. 400 block of North Larch Street: camping within city limits. Subject warned for overnight camping.
11:23 a.m. Elk Creek Road: dog/animal complaints. Subject reported being attacked by two dogs. Subject had no injuries.
8:54 p.m. U.S. Highway 101 at U.S. Highway 26: assistance provided to Oregon State Police with a vehicle vs. deer accident and dispatched deer.
June 2
2:48 p.m. Second Street Recycle Center: other all. Report of garbage left.
3:13 p.m. U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 27.5: traffic roads. 911 caller reported motor home broken down by the side of the road. Officer responded and stood by while operator fixed water tank that had become detached. RV operable and was driven away.
June 3
12:44 a.m. U.S. Highway 101 at milepost 26: traffic stop. Officer made traffic stop for defective plate light. Upon further investigation, driver was found to be driving while suspended. Driver was cited and license confiscated.
11:01 p.m. U.S. Highway 101: traffic roads. 911 callers reported vehicle lost a tire on the highway. Oregon State Police requested assistance from Cannon Beach Police Department. Officer responded and assisted motorist. Tow company contacted.
5:58 p.m. Orford Street at beach: assistance provided to another agency. Officer responded for a report of a paddle boarder who had been seen in the ocean and then disappeared. Officer assisted Cannon Beach Emergency Rescue in attempting to locate. United States Coast Guard was advised and requested to respond with helicopter. Paddle boarder was eventually spotted south of Arch Cape and appeared to not be in any distress.
11:16 p.m. 100 block of East Dawes Avenue: call on a disturbance. Caller reporting noise disturbance. Officer arrived and advised subjects of complaint.
June 4
12:02 a.m. Sandpiper Square: camping within city limits. Subjects contacted and warned for unlawful lodging.
Noon 200 block of East Monroe Street: code violation. Residence without address numbers and unkempt vegetation constituting a fire hazard.
4:20 p.m. 200 block of East Monroe Street: code violation. Residence with unkempt vegetation constituting a fire hazard.
5:23 p.m. Tolovana Wayside and ocean shore: finder reported property abandoned near ocean shore. Officer retrieved and returned to station.
11:17 p.m. Second Street restroom parking lot: camping within city limits. Subject warned for overnight camping.
June 5
10 a.m. Evergreen and East Harrison streets: code violation for property containing an abandoned/unused port-a-potty.
5:09 p.m. 100 block of North Hemlock Street: call for information. Subject called from bar to report bike stolen. After brief search, bike was found.
7:02 p.m. Gower Street and ocean shore: missing person. Mother reported missing 14- and 15-year-old daughters. Officer responded and was advised mother had located daughters. Nothing further.
June 6
8:53 a.m. Madison and Hemlock streets: camping within city limits. Anonymous person reported an RV parked in a grassy lot with occupants camping for the past two nights. Officer arrived by was unable to locate the mentioned RV.
9:29 a.m. Jefferson and Hemlock streets: code violation. Anonymous complaint of clear vision issue involving tall vegetation. Officer arrived, assessed the issue and contacted the business by phone to request they trim their shrubbery. Bushes were trimmed later in the day.
10:38 a.m. Spruce Street parking: information exchange. Officer assisted with an information exchange after a minor motor vehicle accident.
June 7
1:29 a.m. 400 block of North Larch Street: camping within city limits. Subject warned for overnight camping.
10:24 a.m. 1300 block of South Hemlock Street: criminal mischief III. Report of graffiti to a commercial building.
1:40 p.m. Gower and Hemlock streets: criminal mischief III. Report of graffiti to a utility box.
1:45 p.m. 200 block of North Hemlock Street: property found. Found camera on bench, later returned to owner.
4:52 p.m. 1700 block of South Hemlock Street: traffic complaint. Injured bird walking in middle of road in the vicinity of 1700 block of Hemlock Street, Bird was captured and wildlife rescue was contacted. The bird was picked up by their personnel.
7:18 p.m. 3400 block of South Hemlock Street: dog/animal complaints. Report of dog tied to steering wheel inside of vehicle. Officer contacted owner; dog is fine.
