Just in time for summer, let it be known that Portland is an excellent place to be single and looking.

Rent.com named Portland the eigth best place to live for the unattached — about 24 percent of the city’s populations are single adults and 50 percent of households are non-family homes. Plus, it’s noted that we have a great nightlife here in Rose City. The odds are good, my friends.

The website compiled the list based on cities with more than 50,000 rentals and high concentrations of single adults in populations greater than 100,000. We beat out Chicago and Jersey City, but I’m sorry to say that this time we did lose to Seattle. Our Northwest neighbor came in at No. 5 with 30 percent of its population being single.

Rent.com suggests taking advantage of the great outdoors for your next date or soaking up the views at the International Rose Test Garden and the Willamette River if you stay in the city. The site also suggests taking your date to one of Portland’s many microbreweries. But we’re more than just a city of breathtaking views and good beer! Where would you take a date?
