Astoria High School seniors Katie Russell, Aimee Schacher, Jessica Creager, DLen Thomasian and Zhoe Rub and the Honors English 12 class have a project focusing on children in the foster system. Through May 23, they are holding a pajama/sock drive to provide a small care packages for children who are in the temporary custody of the Department of Human Services in support of the Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific.
A box to collect donations is available at the high schools main office. Because stuffed animals can be germ-spreaders and are a health risk, those will not be accepted. Needed are pajamas and socks that are brand new, for all ages and both genders.
