The Portland Trail Blazers are looking forward to their thirtieth playoff appearance since the team joined the league in 1970. The Blazers have not returned to the playoffs since 2011 when Brandon Roy was their star.

The Blazers have gone through a major roster change since the last time they qualified for the playoffs. The only things that haven’t changed are: players LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum, and Wesley Matthews, along with owner Paul Allen.

This year’s team goes into the playoffs with a winning record. They’ll also have two all-star players with Aldridge at power forward and Damian Lillard at point guard.

Ben Golliver writes the Blazers’ Edge blog. He says this is the best team the Blazers have formed over the last five years.

“You have a team that isn’t, (is) not going to get embarrassed, you know,” Golliver says.” They should be able to at least be very competitive at worst in that first round playoff series. And that’s sort of what a best case scenario for what most fans could expect.”

The Blazers have only won one NBA Championship. That was in 1977.
