Rainy Weather May Bring Landslides To Oregon Over Weekend

First Oregon needed rain and now there’s apparently too much all at once.
The National Weather Service predicts a big storm will move in on northwest Oregon and southwest Washington Friday night. Forecasters say there will be two to five inches rain in coastal areas, and one to three inches in other areas. Snow may fall in the mountain passes.
OPB’s Sergio Cisneros talked with National Weather Forecaster Andy Bryant about the forecast.
There are risks of landslides in the Coast Range, Willapa Hills, North Oregon Cascades and the Columbia River Gorge. Some minor slides have already been reported because soil is already highly saturated.
And more rain is expected in Washington where a deadly landslide struck last Saturday.
For now, flooding isn’t expected in Oregon, but people should use caution when traveling this weekend.

The NWS also reports that there may be strong winds, especially on the coast, that could cause trees to fall or cause damage.
