Alma Evelyn (Hedges) Leach

Marysville, Washington

January 7, 1931 December 26, 2013

Alma passed away peacefully at her home in Marysville, WA, on December 26, 2013. Alma was born January 7, 1931, in Camargo, OK, to Rolland Hedges and Opal Baker Hedges. She lived in several locations in Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas.

In 1947, she married Vernon Sides, with whom she had one child, John.

She married Gale Leach in 1963; they celebrated 50 years of marriage this September. They had two children, Teresa and Clifford.

Alma studied accounting at Blue Mountain Community College, and worked in that profession for many years, eventually retiring from Coast Rehabilitation Services in Astoria, Oregon.

Alma was a talented artist and a voracious reader. She enjoyed playing bridge and dancing. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with family, especially her granddaughter, Ruth.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, her baby brother John Hedges, her sisters Juanita Kechter and Mary Holtzworth, her son John Schlaht, and her nieces Janet, Lynn, and Brenda.

Her husband Gale survives her, along with her children Clifford Leach and Teresa Borseth, son-in-law Michael Borseth, granddaughter Ruth Christie, grandson-in-law Gabriel Molinaro, sisters Harmona Kechter and Ianthia Peterson, sisters- and brothers-in-law Lola and Dean Farley and Pearl and Russell Leach, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is being planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County.
