WARRENTON  Six months have elapsed since the devastating fire that engulfed the Warrenton processing plant of Portland-based Pacific Seafood.

Though the company set up operations in a leased facility in the Port of Astorias North Tongue Point, Pacific Seafood executives say they are eager for a return to home port.

The company expects its insurance companys claim and reimbursement evaluation to be completed soon.

Site demolition will start immediately when that is done.

We expect demolition to take approximately one month to complete, after which plant rebuilding will begin immediately, said Michel Roberts, Pacifics project engineer.

This rebuild is an exciting and rare opportunity for Pacific Seafood to distinguish ourselves in the industry with a new state-of-the-art facility allowing for more efficiency and even higher quality products than we were able to offer before.

Though they are waiting upon the insurance companys release of the site, Roberts and his colleagues have been going through surveys, design, permitting, energy studies and interviewing the many business partners they will be working with including contractors and service suppliers.

Roberts said that that as much as possible the company plans to use local business partners, which he says will continue to build and solidify their strong connection and relationship with Warrenton.
