WARRENTON Astoria scored a season-high seven goals Tuesday night at Volunteer Field, in a 7-0 demolition job over the Tillamook Cheesemakers in a Cowapa League girls soccer game.
It was a pretty easy game for us, said Astoria coach Jerry Boisvert. (The Lady Mooks) came out aggressive, but we broke them down once we figured out their high defensive line and offside trap.
Tillamook finished with just one shot on goal, while the Lady Fishermen scored four goals in a 13-minute span of the first half.
Marina Oman opened the scoring in the 16th minute, scoring unassisted after dribbling the ball in from midfield.
It was Oman again in the 19th minute, off a diagonal pass from the left side by Tiffany Stamp.
Stamp made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute, scoring from the left side off an assist from Taylor Mickle; and a shot from 20 yards out by Emma Englund (assist to Kennedy Rub) capped the first half scoring in the 29th minute.
Stamp collected her second goal in the 54th minute, off a steal by Oman along the end line.
Chantal Simmons got in on the act in the 74th minute, scoring on a breakaway; and Emma Englunds corner kick in the 78th minute was one-touched into the goal by Kaisa Johnson.
Astoria was playing without Kjirsten Fastabend, but active games from Mickle and Oman made up for her absence, as the Lady Fish improve to 2-0-1 in league play.
