Anne Jaeger Horn, 85, died as a result of a brain aneurysm Sept. 10, 2013. She was born as Earlanna Rose Bade in Walla Walla, Washington, Aug. 14, 1928, to Earl and Bernice (Gregory) Bade. Her parents lived in Hood River, White Salmon, The Dalles and later Portland, Oregon. She attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where she met and married Leonard Gatley. They moved to Portland, Oregon and had two children, Gaylen Lois and Melody Anne. They divorced in the 1950s. She later married David M. Cox of Hood River. In 1957, they had a son, David Stanley, and resided in Garden Home for many years until they divorced. David died in 1974. Anne married John Boyer of Raleigh Hills. He died in 1976. She married Harry Jaeger. They moved to Seaside in the late 70s and divorced. Then, she met George Horn, her final partner of 35 years.

Anne was a telephone operator before she discovered her passion for teaching young children. She paid higher education fees for students who had promising futures, gave her expertise as a home school teacher and sewed clothes for needy children. She traveled extensively and offered cruises and trips to her friends and family. She fostered many children. She taught German to her kindergarten classes and English to Spanish-speaking children.

Anne and George organized a group of Seaside citizens to bring crippled children from the Dominican Republic to Shriners Hospital in Portland.

They also created adventure theme bedrooms for her family.

Anne felt loved when she gave gifts and she loved to give them.

She worked as a reporter for the Seaside Signal and was a published author.

She had a flair for theater with a part in My Fair Lady at Portlands Civic Theatre.

Other peoples children whom she invested her talents in were Virgil Foxley and Katrina Hopper.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Virgil, of Boise, Idaho; a grandson, Michael Sterling, and a son-in-law, John Twiss. Survivors include Gaylen Gregory Willett (Bruce), Melody Twiss, David Stanley Dennis Cox; grandchildren Felissa Woods (Jeff), Conan Lorenzo (Leslie), Jo S. Kelley, Jesse and Stephanie Cox, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She said she would regret dying because she would not be able to see Jesus return to the earth.

A memorial service is set for Sept. 28, 1 p.m., at North Coast Family Fellowship, 2245 N Wahanna Rd., Seaside.
