It wasnt your usual game of croquet.

The mallets were pink. They had heads and long, curved necks.

They were pink flamingos.

Organized by the Seaside Public Library, the pink flamingo croquet game on April 6 was among the final summer events offered to children and teens. Several teens played, using plastic flamingos as a substitute for croquet mallets.

The game was inspired by Lewis Carrolls Alice in Wonderland. Except for the different mallets, the game was otherwise played as usual.

According to library Director Esther Moberg, no actual birds were harmed during the event.
