After 40 years running one of Oregon’s biggest and best-known canneries, brothers Peter and David Truitt are going their separate ways.

Truitt Brothers once employed about a thousand workers in the Salem area during their busiest seasons, packing Oregon-grown green beans, cherries and pears.

Now, the Statesman Journal reports that Peter Truitt has spun off his own food processing and marketing company: Truitt Family Foods.

The new company will focus on beans, marketed as being sustainably grown in Central Washington.
