Pothole patching planned around Astoria

Clean Sweep Maintenance Inc., the contractor for the city of Astoria Maintenance Patching 2013 Project, has scheduled patching and pothole repair work through now through July 19 at various locations around the city.
All schedules are subject to change in the event of unfavorable weather conditions. Citizens should be prepared for short traffic delays and should use alternate routes where possible.

Weather permitting, Clatsop County crews will begin chip seal operations on Fish Hawk Lake, Oklahoma Hill, Keller and Labeck roads and Hungry Hollow and Burnside loops, and perform shoulder mowing in the Astoria, Jewell and Knappa districts.
There will also be road construction on Ensign Lane in Warrenton. A contractor will be doing earth work as well as removing trees and loading logs on Old Highway 101 Business. Intermittent lane closures will be controlled by flaggers. Motorists are urged to use caution through this work zone.

Also next week, the Oregon Department of Transportation will continue work on the Astoria Bridge. The project involves recoating the steel above the bridge deck on the southern side of the Columbia River bridge along U.S. 101 north of Astoria.
The scheduled work includes preparing and painting the bridge steel above the bridge deck. Flaggers will control single-lane traffic. Lane delays of up to 20 minutes will be allowed anytime on weekdays and weekends.
ODOT crews will also be replacing a culvert with a bridge along U.S. Highway 30 at Mill Creek, just east of Astoria between mile posts 94.42 and 95.11.
Work will include construction of the new roadway. Traffic has been switched over to the new roadway alignment. Flaggers will control single-lane traffic. Expect delays of up to 20 minutes.
The Oregon State Police will be enforcing the speed limit through the work zones.
