The Portland Trail Blazers drafted C.J. McCollum Thursday in this year’s NBA draft. The player graduated in journalism this month from Lehigh University, where he played as a guard.

McCollum averaged about 24 points and five rebounds per game in his last year of college basketball.

Antonio Harvey is with the Portland Trail Blazers. He says McCollum’s style of play will fit well with the Blazers’ star point guard.

Four year old Alyssa Kroll dressed up un a jersey and face paint for the Blazer draft pick party.

“What they’re getting is a very Damian Lillard type point guard — very athletic — a great scorer. And I think what it allows them to do is put two high profile, high energy, high efficiency scorers on the floor at the same time, and that’s becoming the new trend.”

This is Portland’s second consecutive year in the draft lottery. The Blazers used the No. 6 pick last year to take Damian Lillard, who went on to become the NBA’s Rookie of the year.
