‘Making Herbal Tinctures from Wild and Gardened Plants’ with Herbalist Brooke Duling at the Seaside Public Library

On Saturday, May 11, The Friends of the Seaside Library will host local herbalist Brook Duling speaking on the subject, Making Herbal Tinctures from Wild and Gardened Plants. The event will begin at 1:00 and be held in the Community Room. Brooke will have some of her herbal tinctures on hand and for sale.

Brooke Duling is an organic farmer and herbalist who trained at the Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She will focus on making herbal tinctures from freshly harvested medicinal plants, identifying medicinal herbs and preparing herbal teas, oils, and salves. Brooke will also speak on protecting and preserving at-risk and endangered plants, used in herbal medicine, through ethical wildcrafting. This will be a hands-on demonstration where participants will have an opportunity to help make a fresh stinging nettle tincture.

Brooke graduated from Astoria High School in 2003 and holds a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Philosophy and Policy from Wesleyan University in Middleton, Connecticut. She has also studied herbalism at the Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine and the school of Forrest Medicine. She founded Love Warrior Gardens and worked for Sauvie Island Organics.
