Our friends on the fishing vessel TNT were featured as BOAT OF THE MONTH in PACIFIC FISHING magazine (www.pacificfishing.com), LIZ MCMASTER told the Ear. She and her husband, Capt. MARTY MCMASTER, own the F/V Lady Laura.

Owner/operator KARL TRAVENSHEK gives a fantastic interview about their family business, she explained, and how this season is dedicated to his father, LEO BIG LEO TRAVENSHEK, who passed away in June 2012. LEO JR. also helps captain the boat, and both men work the deck alongside their crew, JAMES and TRAVIS MICKELSON of Astoria and Seaside.

Just to give you an idea, heres a great quote from Karl in the story: You need to get the right people, with a little bit of fire in their bellies, to make it out here in the commercial fishing world.

The TNT is based in Warrenton, and they fish for Dungeness crab and Pacific albacore. The boat is a family legacy, she continued, and represents a livelihood for several local families as well as a longstanding tradition for the Travenshek family, who are previously of Lummi Island, Wash.

Interested in reading the story? The February issue of the magazine can be found at Englund Marine and other marine retailers.

This is really special to us, Liz added, since they are our friends and working partners.
