Obituary: Donald A. Don McKay

Donald A. Don McKay, 83, of West Linn, formerly of Clatsop County, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at home.
He was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Astoria, to Thomas and Elizabeth (Plumner) McKay.
Raised in Seaside, he graduated from Seaside High School. He later attended Portland State University and the Oregon State School of Business.
From 1946 to 1948, he served in the U.S. Army.
On Dec. 28, 1964, he married Dayle Shipley in Portland. She survives, residing in West Linn.
Mr. McKay worked as a salesman and owned the Universal Electric branch for the Northwest.
Very active in his community, he was a Seaside city councilor, and a member of the Seaside Library Board, the Seaside Civic and Convention Center Commission, the American Legion and the Cascade Sports Car Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Bruce McKay of Novato, Calif.; two daughters, Cori McKay of Newnan, Ga., and Lessli Rushforth of West Linn; and five grandchildren, David and Sean McKay, Siena and Nolan Miyamura and Kaelyn Rushforth.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Rodgers; and a brother, Thomas P. McKay.
A private service has already been held. Interment was at Willamette National Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Crown Memorial Center was in charge of the arrangements.
