Former Astoria City Councilman Peter Roscoe is tackling what he hopes will be the uncancellation of the Regatta celebration.

A meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at Fulios Restaurant to discuss what will become of the Regatta and if it can be saved this year.

The action follows the Regatta boards decision late last year to cancel the August 2013 event because of a lack of leadership.

This is certainly another Team Astoria, another chapter in this community coming together to do something together, Roscoe said of the efforts to restore the Regatta.

Theres no doubt in my mind that it will be saved, Roscoe said, no doubt in my mind.
