SEASIDE The Warrenton and Seaside boys basketball teams both play in the same county, but the Warriors and Gulls were at two different levels Tuesday night at Seaside.
A big second-half run by the Gulls helped Seaside pull away from Warrenton in the nonleague contest, 68-43.
The Warriors committed a few too many turnovers and allowed too many second-shot opportunities for the Gulls, as Lucas Clark scored six of his game-high 19 points on offensive rebound baskets.
Warrenton held an early 8-4 lead thanks to a pair of scores from Derek Luck, but Seaside stormed back behind baskets from Clark, Bobo Melugin, Aaron Tadei, Sean Wallace and Kyle Hague to build a 15-10 lead after one quarter.
Three-pointers from Jefferson Farmer and Taylor Garhofer in the second period lifted Seaside to a 34-24 halftime lead.
Back-to-back baseline jumpers from Nick Richardson helped the Gulls increase their lead to 48-31 in the third quarter, and scores off the bench from Soren Johansson and Parker Riser in the final period pushed Seasides lead to 25 points.
Eleven players scored for the Gulls, with Richardson scoring 10, followed by Melugin, Wallace and Farmer with seven apiece.
Josh Biel led Warrenton with 11 points, with Jordan Hollaway chipping in 10 points. Luck and Luke Wilson scored eight points apiece.
