WARRENTON The third time was not the charm for the Warrenton volleyball team, which was unable to secure a spot in the state playoffs.

After league playoff losses at Corbett and Valley Catholic last week, the Warriors tried their luck at home Tuesday and came up short in a loser-out playoff game against Catlin Gabel.

The Eagles advance to state with a four-game win, 29-27, 25-19, 20-25, 25-21.

Warrentons Courtney Lofton finished her season with a team-high 20 kills, along with three ace serves. Teammate Kayla Jasmin added four kills, Mady Hanna was 17-for-18 serving with three aces and three kills; and Hanna Little chipped in with four kills and three ace serves on 19-of-19 serving.
