MAX CAMERON, pictured, inset, a Seaside resident who is now going to school in Eugene, wrote to the Ear requesting a shout out to DENNIS SMITH, owner of the SEASIDE SURF SHOP, for his contributions to the Seaside Surf Crew all summer, and for sponsoring Max in the 14th annual CAPE KIWANDA LONGBOARD CLASSIC surfing contest that took place Sept. 22 and 23 in Pacific City.

More than 100 participants competed in 20-minute heats over the two days. Max came in second in the mens ages 18-29 group, and mentioned that in the ages 40-49 group, BRIAN ANDERSON came in first, and JOHN NEWMAN came in third.

Thanks, Dennis, Max said, for holding down the fort while we all went, competed and brought back the medals. Many Seasidians competed and brought home gold, silver, or bronze.

It was a great weekend victory, Max declared, full of great times and friendship.
