Regarding the proposed Warrenton liquefied natural gas terminal to switch to exports: People who were paying any attention seven years ago, when all this LNG stuff started being publicized, realized that the real goal all along was for these so-called LNG import facilities to be export facilities.

Peter Hansen, first Calpines, and then, after Calpines bankruptcy, Leucadia Holding Companys henchman, denied this suggestion vehemently, over and over. Hansen lied at every public meeting he attended and he was at all of them (it was his job, after all). The thousands of citizens who attended these endless meetings heard his lies, and called him on them, repeatedly. But he just kept lying.

He claimed that people who opposed the projects were physically threatening him. The local police always showed up at the public meetings were their overtime hours paid for by the taxpayers? Often, the numbers of citizens allowed in the meeting venues were limited for that particular meeting, and people were turned away by the police and firemen, because of fire safety, you know.

The local people were more than civil to Hansen, even though, at the very first meeting about LNG in Clatsop County, when he was representing Calpine, and in the presence of local backers Susan Trabucco and former Port of Astoria director and disgraced convicted felon Peter Gearin, one of Calpines goons grabbed and pulled on the sweater of a respected member of this community as he was speaking at the microphone, following all their rules.

Hansen and his band of criminals should have been charged with assault that night, but the gentle people of Clatsop County didnt do that. Next time, they will.

So, be careful of Peter Hansen and his buddies, and any schemes theyre conjuring up. Because they make their money lying and cheating, and plan on continuing to try to seduce us yokels with their empty promises of family-wage jobs. As our countys long history with Hansen has amply demonstrated, anything he is associated with is toxic.
