State Medicaid Cuts Blamed For Legacy Health Layoffs

Legacy Health has begun notifying some of its employees to be laid off in a round of job cuts.
Legacy spokesman Brian Terrett says the state’s reductions to Medicaid reimbursements meant the loss of 400 positions.
“When we talk about administrative positions we’re talking about positions within our informations services department, our human resources department, there are jobs from marketing and communications that will be eliminated.”
170 of the proposed cuts are in Legacy’s headquarters. The other 230 cuts are spread across the six hospitals Legacy operates, as well as the labs and research department, and clinics.
The 400 people who are losing jobs represent about 4 percent of Legacy’s total workforce.
