Letter: Safeway drug stores
Published 4:00 pm Thursday, January 5, 2012
Why is Safeway buying up all the small, locally owned drug stores? They bought Kerwin Drug and Holladay Drug in Seaside. Payless Drug is now Rite Aid Pharmacy, and Rite Aid bought Leggs Pharmacy. This left Seaside with two big-box drug stores.
Now Safeway bought out the Hi-School Pharmacy and the Astoria Pharmacy.
I, for one, resent being forced to buy my drugs at a supermarket that I do not even want to shop in. Is this more corporate greed?
