AARP safe driving classes will begin in January

Starting in January, the AARP Driver Safety Classes will be conducted in just six hours instead of the usual eight hours. Most will be completed in just one day rather than the usual two days.
AARP will conduct three six-hour driver safety classes in January. A class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 9 and 10 at the Bob Chisholm Community Center, 1225 Avenue A in Seaside. Rex Anderson will conduct this class. To register, call (503) 338-2408 or (503) 738-7393.
Another class will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 11 at the North County Community Center, 36155 Ninth St. in Nehalem. John Benson will teach the six hour session, which will have a 45 minute lunch break. To register, call (503) 842-8222.
The third class will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 19 at Tillamook Bay Community College, 4301 Third St. in Tillamook. Craig Leslie will be teach the six hour class. There will be a 45 minute lunch break. To register, call (503) 842-8222.
Preregistration is required, and seating is limited. The cost is $14, or $12 for AARP members. Tuition is payable on the first day. Checks should be made payable to AARP.
This class is designed for seniors 55 and older but anyone can attend. Oregon automobile insurance companies offer a discount to policyholders who turn in a completion certificate given at the end of the class.
