Environment vs. jobs

Im in total appreciation of the editorial, Shut up and eat it (The Daily Astorian, Nov. 1). In the editorial, appropriate warning was issued to the effect that the environment ought not be sacrificed in the pursuit of the economy and jobs.
My only concern is that this was, I assume, written by the same ethical editor who encouraged the slaughter of regenerating packs of wolves in several western states, in the name of the economy, and jobs those of ranchers and farmers, to whom many educational programs are available regarding the appropriate and successful protection of livestock from wildlife, while saving the newly recovering wolf population.
Are we situationally environmentally conscious? Or, are we for real?
