A 15-year-old girl accused of attacking a classmate at Warrenton High School was arraigned on misdemeanor fourth degree assault charges in Clatsop County Circuit Court Friday, Oct. 28.

The assault charges stem from an altercation Oct. 21 at WHS. The victim was allegedly beaten and suffered cuts and bruises around her face and neck. Warrenton school officials are reviewing what happened to determine whether the altercation was related to bullying.

The high-schooler was arrested on Thursday and spent one night at the county’s juvenile detention facility. She attended her hearing via speakerphone from the facility.

Judge Cindee Matayas remanded the girl back to her parents’ custody. She may attend school, but Matayas ordered she have no contact with her accuser.
