After competing against 5A and 6A schools the week before in the Southridge Tournament, the Astoria volleyball team took a big step down in competition in their home opener Thursday night.

The Taft Tigers now 2-50 over the last three years (0-24 in league play) were the unfortunate opponents for the Lady Fishermen, who cruised to an easy three-game sweep, 25-14, 25-7, 25-9.

Kelsie Houghtaling had 12 kills in 18 attempts, Olivia Israel was 14-for-14 serving, Noelle Lund had six aces and Danielle Moyer led the Lady Fish in passing.
