After 13 years of owning Lucys Books in downtown Astoria, Laura Snyder is ready to move on.

Snyder has sold her store at 348 12th St. to Mark and Patti Breidenbach and is hoping the community will welcome them

Ive never actually had a job this long before, and the last couple of years Ive been feeling like I need to do something new and make a personal change, Snyder said.

She said it took her a long time to get up the nerve to place an advertisement to sell her business.

But when she did, the speedy response helped her to rest assured that she had made the right choice.

I feel like the quick answer to the ad, and how enthusiastic they were,  must be right, she said.

So she sold it. And the transition   on Sept. 1, she hopes, will be seamless and smooth.

The Breidenbachs came to Astoria from Boise, Idaho. They were not immediately available for comment.

The staff member at the shop will stay on, at least in the near future, Snyder said. And the shop will continue to operate at the same level of service.

I dont have a personal plan yet, Snyder said, but added she has no plans to leave Astoria.

She continues to serve on the Astoria School District Board of Directors.

Im not so great at the overlap. So right now, I am focused on taking care of the business and passing it on in good condition to the new owners, Snyder said. Ill do it all right and well, and then figure out what to do next. Its scary but good.
