Great Vow sets workshop

CLATSKANIE The Great Vow Zen Monastery, located at 79640 Quincy-Mayger Road in Clatskanie, will hold a Communicating with Family workshop, led by Dharma Holder Daitetsu Hull and LaShelle Yoan Lowe-Charde, from 5 p.m. Sept. 2 to 1 p.m. Sept. 4.        

Compassionate Communication (also called Nonviolent Communication (NVC)) and mindfulness practice offer a variety of practical tools that open the heart and facilitate connection while maintaining a safe container for integrity.

Participants in this workshop will learn tools like honest expression and skillful interrupting, begin to transform inner dialogue to one of understanding and connection and gain insight about how mindfulness practice can support creating more peace and connection.

The cost is $150 plus donation, $120 for Zen Community of Oregon/Dharma Rain Zen Center members or $75 for students, and includes dormitory accommodations and all vegetarian meals.
