Q&A: Mercy Corps Helping With Drought, Famine In Horn Of Africa

The area known as the Horn of Africa is suffering through a terrible drought and famine. The UN says around 12-million people are affected mainly in the countries off Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia.
That figure includes about a half a million children who are in danger of starving to death.
Portland-based Mercy Corps is one of the organizations that is in the Horn of Africa, trying to help.
Erin Gray is with Mercy Corps. She’s spent the last couple of weeks in the region. She’s about to return to her home in the U.K., but she took a moment to speak with us.
