Police investigation into the death of an Astoria woman who fell three stories from a balcony continues.

No cause of death has been ruled out, but the physical examination of the 49-year-old woman’s body showed injuries “consistent with a fall,” according to Astoria Deputy Police Chief Brad Johnston.

An autopsy was scheduled last week, but the full report has not been completed, pending the results of a toxicology examination, Johnston said.

Early in the morning on Aug. 3, Janice Crowley’s husband reported that his wife had fallen from a balcony outside a bedroom at their home on Cedar Street in Astoria.

Emergency personnel tried to revive Crowley at her home then took her to Columbia Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to police, the circumstances around the fall are not known.
