Authorities Identify Man Killed At Beacon Rock

A 30-year-old man from Portland has been killed at a popular rock climbing spot in southwestern Washington.
Skamania County sheriff’s officials say the man fell more than 100 feet from Beacon Rock late Sunday afternoon. He and his partner were rappelling down the south route at the time.
Late Monday, the sheriff’s office released his name.
According to a release, 30-year-old Nathan Turner from Southeast Portland was climbing with Michael Aubry when he fell.
Turner was a firefighter for the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue according to his sister, the release reported.
Undersheriff Dave Cox said of the incident, “Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family, coworkers and friends of this young man.”
