All-Stars headed to regionals

MERIDIAN, Idaho The action begins Thursday at Settlers Park in Meridian, Idaho, for the Pacific Northwest Region Cal Ripken Baseball Major 60 Tournament.

Opening ceremonies for the tournament are slated to begin at 5 p.m. today, with pool-play games taking place Thursday and Friday.

And among the eight teams competing will be the Lower Columbia 12-year-old All-Stars, fresh off their state tournament victory last week.

The All-Stars will be one of four teams in the National Division, and will open play at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in a pool-play game vs. the representative team from south Washington.

Lower Columbia will play two games Friday (1:30 p.m., vs. Idaho, and 6:30 p.m., vs. East Montana).

Quarterfinals and semifinals take place Saturday, with the championship game scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday.
