The former chief financial officer of the Steck Medical Group was sentenced Wednesday to nine months in the Lewis County Jail after pleading guilty to one count of first-degree theft and one count of second-degree theft.

Keith B. Mohoric, 51, was arrested May 10 for skimming about $25,000 in cash from bank deposits from the Chehalis-based medical clinics and charged with nine counts of forgery and theft. However, prosecutors say they didnt have enough evidence to prosecute with forgery, although they now believe Mohoric had stolen more cash than originally thought.

Were still waiting for Steck to tally it all up, Lewis County Deputy Prosecutor Will Halstead said.

Halstead said Mohoric was sentenced on the high end of both theft counts six months and three months.

Chris Bredeson, chief executive officer of Steck, produced bank statements and deposit slips for authorities that showed Mohoric had been altering deposit slips after making cash deposits at the bank.

Mohoric was employed by Steck for about 18 months.
