Hit-and-Run
At 2:56 p.m. Tuesday, a woman told Astoria police that she had been hit in the crosswalk near Eighth Street and Exchange Street in Astoria. The suspect vehicle was a red Toyota pick-up truck with a yellow license plate.
Assault
At 12:36 p.m. Tuesday, a man told Warrenton police that his 9-year-old son was on the playground at the KOA Campground when another man reportedly picked the boy up and threw him to the ground. Warrenton police arrested Todd Matthew Grewe, 48, of Portland, for third-degree assault. Grewe said the boy was in the way of his daughter, who was trying to swing on the swing set. He said he picked the boy up to move him out of the way. However, the boy had red marks on him and, according to Warrenton Police Chief Mathew Workman, anytime a person grabs someone else and leaves marks or makes any other sort of unwanted physical contact, they may be charged with (and possibly found guilty of) third-degree assault.
At 6:04 p.m. Tuesday, a man reported that a domestic fight was going on behind his house. The couple left, driving southbound on Highway 104, he said. A Clatsop County Sheriffs Office deputy located them and arrested William Jacob Eckstein, 49, of Centralia, Wash., for driving under the influence of intoxicants and for fourth-degree assault.
