The City of Seaside, Oregon on the state’s northern coastline, announced the availability of its new Smartphone application, “Seaside, OR.” To develop and launch the app, the Seaside Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Development Association and City’s Visitors Bureau partnered with EveryTrail (www.everytrail.com) – the leading online and mobile travel technology company and a TripAdvisor® Media Group Company. EveryTrail has published its own popular apps on iPhone and Android as well as custom apps for the world’s best destinations and brands. There is no charge for the Seaside app.
The Seaside, OR mobile app is an incredibly useful and convenient tool for visitors who want to explore the city’s beaches, downtown, hiking, biking and kayaking options. The tool also addresses some long-held frustrations. While there is no shortage of city and trail information available in print or online, it can be difficult to take that information along without cumbersome workarounds such as printing, emailing web pages, and lugging paperwork. In contrast, the Seaside, OR app by EveryTrail offers visitors a detailed, media-rich, interactive, and location-aware experience, complete with Guides to several itineraries. It is light-weight and always up-to-date with the latest information. iPhone users can download the app in the iTunes App Store (http://bit.ly/SeasideORApp) while Android users can download through the Android Market (http://bit.ly/SeasideDroid).
“We are happy to partner with EveryTrail to enable visitors to enjoy the richness of the town and the surrounding area in a way that only a local guide could otherwise make possible,” said Al Smiles, executive director for the Seaside Chamber of Commerce. “In fact, the great content that our organization and the knowledgeable staff already had, such as great dining and brew pub itineraries, trail and event information, pictures, audio and video clips, was heavily used in the creation of the app. We are also excited to engage with visitors on this immediate and individualized platform-an opportunity enabled by EveryTrail’s web and mobile technology. Our partnership with EveryTrail will help us communicate with visitors before, during and after their visits.”
There are more than 14 Guides detailing sightseeing, bike rides, walks, hikes, and kayaking in Seaside, such as the “North Coast Craft Beer Trail” (http://bit.ly/iITJ2A) and the “Oregon Coast Range Discovery Biking Guide” (http://bit.ly/mGxJh7). Any seasonal updates or changes, as well as new Guides and information, will be added frequently.
“With the rise of smart phones, such as iPhone and Android, travelers increasingly expect content to be available on their phones in ways that make optimal use of new capabilities like location-awareness and multimedia,” said EveryTrail Founder and General Manger Joost Schreve. “Visitors also want to effortlessly share their personal experiences on Facebook and other sites. Our solutions are built from the ground up for the mobile and social age and, therefore our travel and outdoor products meet today’s consumers’ needs and desires. We are thrilled to work with Seaside to make visits to the Oregon coast even more fulfilling.”
About Seaside, OR
Jon Rahl, Seaside’s director of tourism noted, “The application gives you quick and easy access to all things Seaside. SeasideOR.com and the Seaside Visitor Guide (http://bit.ly/ixGRx1) will continue to offer information to help aid you in planning your next vacation to Seaside, but the mobile app helps take planning to a whole new level.”
Did you forget the map to the biking or hiking trail you wanted to hit? No problem. That’s one of the luxuries of the new app. Now can you find the address and exact location of the places you want to go.”
There’s also a fun family trail called “Discover Seaside Trail” (http://bit.ly/ltQiyu). Utilize extreme close-up photos of local hotspots while using your sleuthing skills to find the exact location of the photo. There is also an events section – helping you determine what’s going on during your stay – as well as a birding guide. And did you know Seaside is home to more than 200 species of birds throughout the year? This app demonstrates that Seaside really is more than just a day at the beach.
