ASTORIA – Representatives of Hampton Inn & Suites, hotel builder The Grinnell Group and the City of Astoria broke ground on what will be the Astoria Hampton Inn & Suites, near Pier 38, east of town.
The groundbreaking was held on Thursday, June 2.
Plans for the proposed hotel include an 80-room structure on the waterfront, south of the Astoria Riverwalk.
The proposed hotel site is near Cannery Lofts Condominiums and Pier 39, a restored cannery building on pilings over the river that houses a restaurant, coffee shop, a museum, a vacation rental and office space, among other amenities.
