The fourth annual Cannon Beach Elementary School Walk/Run on May 21, played out on hard-packed sand under cloudy skies, amid beautiful scenery including Haystack Rock. 

Fit Kids-Healthy Futures was the motto. Earlier, Cannon Beach Elementary School students collected pledges for running in the one-mile event, an annual fundraiser for the school. 

Over 75 kids participated, nearly one-third of them Cannon Beach Elementary students. Coming across the finish line first, with a time of 6:38, was Alex Teubner.

The one-mile run Kids Run preceeded a 5K and 10K run, and 5K walk.

Proceeds from the event will used for fitness equipment and curriculum, science curriculum, and health-related book sets for the classrooms, in addition to educational assemblies, field trips and other special activities, including an ongoing after school Fitness Club.
